Ganton

Situated some nine miles from the sea, Ganton an outstanding example of an inland links course with so many features that are links related. It possesses some of the finest crisp seaside turf in England. Its sandy subsoil proves its links heritage so much so that each new bunker that is excavated churns up sea shells lending to the proposition that the whole of this area was once attached to the ocean.
The links feel is further enhanced by rolling dunes coupled with heathland, gorse and heather. Watch out for 100 or more bunkers.
It was the home course of Harry Vardon 6 times champion of the Open. Ben Hogan captained his victorious American side at Ganton during the Ryder Cup 1949.
Host to the Amateur Championship 1964, 1977, 1991 & 2003
14th in the Top 100 Courses in the British Isles 2002
